From the lodge, travel west to Hwy 27, turn right and after 6 miles, turn right onto Pintail Drive where you can view birds, alligators, nutria, and other wildlife found on this Cameron Prairie Refuge.

Beginning on March 1 and ending on December 1, recreational crabbing, fishing, shrimping , cast netting, and bird -watching are permitted on the refuge. Anglers will find redfish, speckled trout, flounder, black drum among others. At East End Locks, a public boat launch is provided. Bank fishing and crabbing are allowed here as well as at Price Lake Rd. and Joseph Harbor Landing, the latter of which has a public boat launch.
From the lodge to Rockfeller Refuge is approximately 20 minutes.
Birds and other wildlife can be seen along the Creole Nature Trail ( All-American Road) on Hwy 27 (aka Louisiana's Outback) and Pintail Drive off of Hwy 27 on Cameron Prairie Refuge.
Additionally, the marshlands of Cameron Parish are rich with other wildlife such as snakes, opossums, armadillos, mink, muskrats, raccoons, cottontails, marsh rabbits, and coyotes. The marshes support the Mississippi Flyway, the waterfowl routes from north to south during the seasonal migration of duck and geese. Wading birds such as white-faced ibises, roseate spoonbills, egrets, yellow-crowned night herons, and bicolor herons, and the majestic great blue heron are plentiful.
This waterway can be entered by public boat launch, free of charge, on the north side of the Conway LeBleu (Gibbstown) Bridge.
Travel time from the lodge is about 15 minutes.
This beach is well-known for its surf fishing. The most popular catch is the bull redfish. Shelling, sun-bathing, and walking along the beach are activities enjoyed by visitors. Please obey the rules on the posted signs.
The drive from Little Chenier Hunting and Fishing Lodge is approximately 20 minutes.
This waterway runs from the Gulf of Mexico to Catfish Locks and provides saltwater fishing for the serious angler such as red drum, black drum, flounder, and speckled trout. The public launch is located at Grand Chenier Park and provides about a 15 minute ride to the Jetties.
The drive to Grand Chenier Park from Little Chenier Hunting and Fishing Lodge is only about 10 minutes.
Imagine a place where you can catch five species of freshwater fish! What angler not from this area of marshland in Cameron Parish can say that? This property, owned by Miami Corporation, is located in southwest Louisiana just below the Intracoastal Canal and is available to the public at large from mid-March to mid-August for a fee. Permits can be obtained at convenience stores in Sweetlake, Creole, and Grand Chenier, but they sell out quickly.
BIg Burns is one of those places in Sportsman's Paradise where fish are caught with a regularity not known in other places in the state of Louisiana and is only about 15 minutes from Little Chenier Hunting and Fishing Lodge.
